Searchlight now enables you to incorporate Job Ladders and Hard Skills into every job you are hiring for!

This allows you to evaluate candidates on the necessary technical skills unique to each role, so you have a holistic picture of every candidate. By combining Soft Skills, Culture Traits, and Hard Skills, we believe you will be able to continue hiring better and faster using Searchlight!

This feature will enable you to:

  1. Import, edit, or create Job Ladders in Searchlight

  2. Organize all your Job Ladders in a Job Architecture that you can access through Searchlight

  3. Add Job Ladders to any Job you are hiring for

The remainder of this article will provide guidance on how you can organization your Job Architecture in Searchlight and use individual Job Ladders to improve hiring!

How you can organize your Job Architecture in Searchlight

Previously, the Job Architecture feature was known as Career Frameworks. Based on customer feedback, we've reoriented this product as Job Architecture.

  1. Create, import, or edit any of your Job Ladders: Within our Job Architecture, you can create a Job Ladder from scratch or import one via CSV. This process has largely remained the same.

  2. NEW ✨ Start from one of our Searchlight Benchmark Career Ladders: For 36 job families, we have pre-seeded every account with dedicated Career Ladders for both IC and Manager levels.

We have default Career Ladders for every major Job Family (e.g., Account Executive, Product Manager, Customer Success Manager, etc.). We also have "Technical" and "Non-Technical" Career Ladders that you can use as starting blocks to customize for the unique parts of your business.

  3. Copy and edit Benchmark Job Ladders directly into your Job Architecture: Every Job Ladder from Searchlight can be imported directly into your library. This not only saves you an enormous amount of time, but is also intended to help you bring in critical hard skills like Sales Acumen or Product & Industry Knowledge to be assessed for all of your candidates.

How Job Ladders work in a Searchlight Job

When Job Ladders are incorporated into a Job, you can then assess candidates for key job-specific hard skills and capabilities to align your hiring teams on what to look for in candidates.

  1. Add hard skills to any Searchlight Job: For any job, you will be able to attach any Job Ladder from your Library or even straight from the Searchlight Benchmarks.

  2. Use Job-Specific Capabilities to align teams on what to look for: Once a Job Ladder is added, you will be able to see each Hard Skill for that job as well as how that varies based on Target Level.

  3. Evaluate candidates with a scorecard: Once a Job Ladder is attached to a Job, every candidate will be evaluated on a scorecard-basis on each of these job-specific skills.
