You can now configure how Quality of Hire is calculated for your company and even configure Quality of Hire to be calculated differently for different teams.

Common use cases are:

  • Hiring Manager Satisfaction: Using an existing or Searchlight manager satisfaction survey in which at the 90-day mark, managers are asked whether they would re-make the hire on a 1-5 point scale

  • Performance Reviews: Using performance review ratings at the end of the first year to measure new hire performance

  • Quota attainment: Using quota attainment at the end of the ramp up period to measure Quality of Hire for sales teams

Previously, we only allowed the Searchlight Quality of Hire formula to be used. Now, you have many options:

  1. Use only the Manager Satisfaction factor within Searchlight's Quality of Hire formula

  2. Upload your own custom metrics for different employees

Uploading Custom Metrics for Quality of Hire

You can configure Quality of Hire with custom metrics by employee. This is powerful, because it gives you the flexibility to differentiate Quality of Hire by employee, job family, and department.

  1. Make sure you have connected your HRIS or imported your employees in Company Settings: https://help.searchlight.ai/en/articles/6778948-company-settings

    1. ONLY employees that are already in your system can have a custom metric

  2. Prepare Your CSV File: Before you start importing, make sure your CSV file is properly formatted and structured.

    1. Required fields are:

      1. Email

      2. Employee first name (first_name)

      3. Employee last name (last_name)

      4. Related time period start (related_time_period_start (MM/DD/YYYY))

        1. Example: if your performance period for measuring performance ratings was 02/01/2022 through 01/31/2023, this would be 02/01/2022

        2. Note: the date format must be MM/DD/YYYY or will be rejected

      5. Related time period end (related_time_period_end (MM/DD/YYYY))

        1. Example: if your performance period for measuring performance ratings was 02/1/2022 through 01/31/2023, this would be 01/31/2023

        2. Note: the date format must be MM/DD/YYYY or will be rejected

      6. Score (score)

        1. Example: if the employee received a 3 on their latest performance rating, then this would be 3

      7. Min score (min_score)

        1. Example: if the lowest performance rating in your program is 1, then this would be 1

      8. Max score (max_score)

        1. Example: if the highest performance rating in your program is 5, then this would be 5

        2. Note: in some cases, we expect the actual score to be above the max score. In the case of quota attainment, the max score may be 100%, but in practice, many employees may exceed that value. You do not need to make any adjustments for these types of use cases. We will compute them automatically.

  3. Upload the CSV or drag your CSV into the target box

  4. Data Validation: Searchlight will perform some data validation to ensure the integrity of the data. We will check for missing required fields or invalid data formats. If any issues are found, you will be prompted to resolve them before proceeding.

  5. Review and Confirm: Once the data is validated, you can preview the data to be imported. Review this preview to ensure everything looks accurate. If everything looks good, proceed to confirm the import. If not, make necessary modifications in your CSV and re-upload.

  6. Complete the Import: Once everything is verified and completed, Save the custom metric and going forward, everywhere in the application Quality of Hire for those selected employees will be measured using the custom metric specified here.
